The verdict

01 / REVIEW

Synthesised from 1 independent review, every claim traces to a quote in the breakdown. We don't test products ourselves.

A lightweight firm-ground speed boot with a thin knitted upper that has vent holes and a sprint-focused plastic soleplate, built for quick players and offering an immediate, close touch but only average traction and durability.

Design and build

The Velocita name goes back to 2015 and this model is the 2024 Umbro Velocita Pro, the follow-up to the Velocita IV from 2019. It sits in Umbro's elite product tier.

The upper is a thin, engineered knit with built-in vents. Umbro calls this material ProWeave and some versions use a higher proportion of recycled fibres. The upper also includes a bonded V-shaped frame and an internal system designed to help the knit hold the foot.

The sole is a sprint-style plate made from a PEBAX material. It uses a stud layout designed for speed, mixing round and shaped studs on the firm-ground version. Some versions of the boot are sold with soft-ground studs, but the main model is for firm grass.

The company lists the weight as 180 g per shoe. The boot pairs the thin knit upper with the sprint plate to cut weight and favor acceleration over heavy cushioning or extra protection.

Who it's for

The Velocita Pro is for players who rely on pace, such as wingers, forwards and attacking full-backs. It is aimed at higher-level players who want an elite-tier firm-ground sprint boot. The thin knit, sprint plate and 180 g weight all point to a speed-focused design rather than a protection or power boot.

The fit favours narrow-to-medium feet. Central defenders, power strikers who need reinforced strike zones, players who want extra durability, or players who need a roomy fit should look at other models.

Comfort

Reviewers say the boot feels comfortable straight away. The upper is thin, soft and flexible. The boot settles quickly and does not need a long break-in to feel comfortable on the pitch.

Fit and Lockdown

The boot fits close and snug and holds the foot in place. That tight fit gives secure lockdown for quick movements. The shape will suit narrow-to-medium foot shapes more than wide feet.

Control

The upper and internal structure keep the foot stable. That stability helps when changing direction and making tight touches. The result is a locked-in platform for multi-directional play.

Weight

At 180 g per shoe the boot is light. Reviewers do not see the weight as a significant drawback. The low mass supports the boot's focus on acceleration.

Traction

Traction is adequate but not exceptional. Reviewers describe the sprint plate and stud layout as competent for firm grass but not groundbreaking. Players who need aggressive grip on artificial surfaces or in very wet conditions may find the traction only average.

it's nothing that is necessarily groundbreaking or revolutionary in terms of the traction that it's going to provide. Soccer Reviews For You

Durability

Reviewers gave durability a mid-range score. Expect a reasonable lifespan with normal use. The boot does not stand out for abrasion resistance or long-term toughness.
