Overview
Cleats Hub is a content-only platform. We do not require visitors to create accounts, submit personal details, or register in any way to read our reviews, scores, or guides. Our data footprint is deliberately small.
What we collect
Server logs
Our web server automatically records standard request logs: IP address, browser user-agent, referring URL, page requested, and timestamp. These logs are used for security monitoring, debugging, and understanding broad traffic patterns. They are not tied to individual user profiles and are rotated regularly.
Theme preference
If you switch between light and dark mode, your preference is stored in a small cookie or local-storage entry in your browser. This data never leaves your device and is not sent to our servers.
No accounts, no tracking pixels
We do not operate user accounts for visitors. We do not embed third-party tracking pixels, social media widgets that report back to their parent platforms, or cross-site tracking scripts.
Analytics
We do not currently use a third-party analytics service (such as Google Analytics). If we adopt analytics in the future, we will update this policy to describe what is collected, which provider processes it, and what opt-out controls are available before the service goes live.
Affiliate outbound links
Product pages include links to third-party retailers. When you click one of those links, you leave Cleats Hub and your activity on the retailer's site is governed by the retailer's own privacy policy. We have no visibility into what the retailer records once you arrive there, beyond the aggregate commission report we receive.
Retailers we commonly link to include Amazon, Hockey Monkey, Dick's Sporting Goods, and similar sports equipment stores. Each has its own privacy policy that we encourage you to read before purchasing.
Cookies
We set one first-party cookie: a theme-preference flag (light/dark mode). No third-party cookies are set by Cleats Hub itself. Retailer links may result in affiliate tracking cookies being set by the retailer's domain once you navigate there, that is outside our control and covered by the retailer's policy.
Your rights under GDPR
We are based in Malta (EU), so the General Data Protection Regulation applies. Because we collect very little personal data and hold no user accounts, most GDPR requests will have a short answer. You have the right to:
- Access, request a copy of any personal data we hold about you.
- Rectification, ask us to correct inaccurate data.
- Erasure, ask us to delete data we hold about you, subject to any legal obligations to retain it.
- Objection, object to processing based on our legitimate interests.
To exercise any of these rights, email hello@cleatshub.com with the subject line "Privacy Request". We will respond within 30 days.
Data retention
Server logs are retained for up to 90 days for security and debugging purposes, then deleted. Theme-preference data is stored in your browser and cleared when you clear your browser data.
Children
Cleats Hub is a general-audience content site. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13, and our service is not directed at them.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, for example, by adding analytics, we will update the "last updated" date at the top and, where appropriate, add a notice to the homepage.
