The verdict

01 / REVIEW

Synthesised from 2 independent reviews, every claim traces to a quote in the breakdown. We don't test products ourselves.

The Diadora Maximus Elite is a 2024 top‑level revival built around premium leather or a Suprellsoft synthetic and a Pebax sole on the higher-end editions. Reviews show it is comfortable straight away and gives dependable traction. Its main limits are only average long‑term durability and that it is not aimed at speed‑focused players.

Design and build

Released in 2024 as a premium revival of the Maximus line, the Maximus Elite sits near the top of Diadora's range and references the original Maximus from 2006 and 2007.

The upper and construction change by edition. The Made‑in‑Italy and MPH leather versions use premium leather. The R/LPU takedown versions use Suprellsoft synthetic and a sock‑like construction.

The soleplate and studs also vary. The premium Made‑in‑Italy editions use a two‑density Pebax sole, which is a light, flexible plastic material, with lamellar conical studs and a Rotax 2.0 element in the forefoot. Other variants use different polyurethane soles.

Standard FG and R/SLX variants are for firm ground. The MPH soft‑ground variant is for soft or wet ground.

Diadora names Rotax 2.0 as the element that helps rotational traction and stability on the premium Pebax sole editions. The MSRP at launch is $230.

Who it's for

The Maximus Elite is aimed at central midfielders and creative playmakers who want a premium leather feel, instant comfort, and a balanced sole for turning and passing. Defenders who want a secure, stable fit will also like it. It is not ideal for wingers and forwards who need very light, speed‑biased boots.

It is aimed at serious club players, amateur players, and collectors who want a made‑in‑Italy leather option. Buyers should pick the FG or MPH variant based on their surface and expect to order their normal size.

Comfort

Comfort is a clear strength in both main reviews. Soccer Reviews For You gave 8 out of 10. Noah Cavanaugh gave 9 out of 10 and called them "immensely comfortable out of the box."

For most players this means little break‑in is needed and the boots feel plush underfoot and on top. That suits longer sessions and players who want comfort immediately.

'they are immensely comfortable out of the box I cannot understand that enough'. Noah Cavanaugh

Traction

Traction is rated well overall, averaging 8 out of 10. Reviewers link that to the soleplate and stud layout on the tested editions and describe an aggressive, bitey feel.

In practice players get secure grip for cutting and turning. Reviewers say the Rotax 2.0 forefoot element and the conical studs help stability and dig into many firm surfaces.

'I really do find this to provide a nice amount of bite and be more on the aggressive side'. Soccer Reviews For You

Durability

Durability sits around the middle, averaging 7.5 out of 10 across the two reviews. One review calls the build quality "very very nice." Another says the construction feels robust and better than many alternatives on the market.

Players can expect solid season‑to‑season longevity from the premium leather Made‑in‑Italy editions. The reviews stop short of saying the boots are exceptionally long‑lasting.

'the build quality as a whole does seem to be very very nice'. Soccer Reviews For You

Fit

Fit is reported as generally true to size. Soccer Reviews For You recommends true to size. Noah Cavanaugh says they "fit perfectly."

That means standard sizing choices should work for most players. There is no reviewer evidence that most buyers will need to size up or down.

'I would personally recommend going true to size'. Soccer Reviews For You

Touch

Touch scores are solid but not outstanding, averaging 7 out of 10. Reviewers call the upper padded and plush, which gives a consistent and reliable feel on the ball rather than an ultra‑thin, barefoot sensation.

For players who want a soft first touch and a leather feel, the Maximus Elite gives a consistent contact surface. It is not designed to be an ultra‑thin touch boot for very close control.

'touch on the ball is definitely as I expected it it's very padded very plush'. Noah Cavanaugh

Control

Control is described as balanced and neutral. Noah Cavanaugh rates control 7 out of 10 and links it to the locked‑in heel feel and the soleplate's balanced behavior.

That combination supports stable passing and ball management in midfield roles. It does not provide special advantages for shooting power or pure speed.

'between the heel locked in sensation I'm having between the soulle plate feeling balanced and neutral the upper feels absolutely fantastic'. Noah Cavanaugh

Frequently asked questions

What position are the Diadora Maximus Elite best for?

The boot follows a control and touch profile. It is best for central midfielders and creative playmakers who value leather touch and comfort. It is also acceptable for defenders who want stability and a secure feel.

Which players wear the Diadora Maximus Elite?

The Maximus line is historically linked to Francesco Totti. The current Maximus Elite is the 2024 revival of that line.

Do the Maximus Elite run true to size?

Reviewers recommend true to size. Soccer Reviews For You advises true to size and Noah Cavanaugh says they "fit perfectly," so normal sizing should suit most buyers.

Are the Maximus Elite suitable for artificial grass or wet ground?

Standard FG variants are intended for firm ground. Reviewers note the stud pattern and soleplate grip artificial grass without issue. Diadora also offers MPH soft‑ground variants for wet or soft surfaces.

How durable are the Maximus Elite?

Reviewers give durability about 7.5 out of 10 and describe the build quality as solid. One reviewer calls the construction "very very nice" and another says the durability is better than most alternatives.

Bottom line, The Maximus Elite is a leather‑focused, comfort‑first revival that gives reliable traction and a plush feel for central midfielders and creative playmakers; attackers who need speed‑first platforms should look at lighter, more aggressive models.

the sole plate and stud pattern is also really excellent the stud pattern particularly one of my favorites because it's all conical studs and they're the perfect circumference and length so that they're able to dig into an AG pitch no problem but they're also able to dig into an FG pitch without any issues as well
